Dorma MJ Mortised Jamb Bracket
The Dorma MJ is the mortised jamb bracket. The 8900 brochure (printed p.30) calls it for regular-mount non-hold-open assemblies where the frame will not take the standard foot -- molded, bull-nose, or ornate trim. Price List 38 prints it as the mortised jamb bracket for non-hold-open arms (AF89 only), list $38.
The same page says MJ also lets a parallel-arm job run between twin communicating doors when there is no room for the P89 soffit bracket. Flat-form arms must use MJ with the special-length AF8MJ arm (brochure p.26 and p.30; PL38 p.188). This listing is the bracket only.
Do I need the AF8MJ arm with MJ?
Yes on a flat-form non-hold-open arm. Brochure printed p.30: flat form must use MJ with AF8MJ. PL38: specify AF8MJ for 8600 or 8900. The MJ bracket is ordered separately (brochure p.26). This page is the bracket, not the AF8MJ arm.
When is MJ used instead of P89?
On regular mount when the standard foot will not land, or on twin communicating doors when there is no room for P89 (brochure p.30). MJ is not the standard AF89P soffit bracket.
