Ensure Building Safety with Certified ADA Thresholds and Ramps

Ensure every entryway passes inspection with our selection of heavy-duty ADA compliant thresholds and ramps. Meeting ADA 1:12 slope requirements is essential for commercial safety, and our hardware is engineered to bridge floor gaps of 1/2" or greater seamlessly. While these units typically ship with wood screws and plastic anchors, most professionals opt for Tapcons to ensure a rock-solid mount into concrete sills. To guarantee long-term performance, we highly recommend sealing the assembly to the exterior concrete with outdoor-rated silicone caulk to prevent moisture from freezing underneath and causing the threshold to bind against the door.

Professional Grade ADA Entry Solutions for Commercial Facilities

Upgrade your facility’s accessibility with Grade 1 commercial ADA ramps and door thresholds designed for heavy foot and wheelchair traffic. Our inventory features non-slip aluminum and high-traction rubber solutions that provide a safe, code-compliant transition for retail and office storefronts. For a professional-grade installation, use Tapcons for a permanent masonry grip and finish the job with a bead of silicone sealant along the exterior edge. This critical step prevents water from seeping under the ramp, which can freeze and "expand upwards," leading to costly door-binding issues during winter months.

Flat Saddle Thresholds

Commercial Saddle Thresholds: The Industry Standard for Durability

Named for their iconic shape, commercial saddle thresholds are the most versatile solution for sealing the gap between the door and the floor. Designed for both interior and exterior openings, our Grade 1 saddle thresholds provide a smooth, ADA-compliant transition that also helps prevent airflow, reduces noise transmission, and blocks smoke in the event of a fire. Available in grooved, slip-resistant finishes from top manufacturers like NGP and Pemko, these thresholds are field-sizable to fit any door width.

Installer Pro Tip: For a permanent, high-traffic mount on concrete, we recommend using Tapcons instead of standard anchors. Be sure to apply a continuous bead of outdoor-rated silicone caulk under the exterior edge to prevent moisture from freezing and "expanding upwards," which can cause the threshold to bind against the door.

ADA Interlocking Ramps

Modular Interlocking ADA Ramps: Customizable Accessibility Solutions

When a standard threshold isn't enough to bridge a significant change in floor level, our interlocking ADA ramp systems provide a heavy-duty, modular solution. These aluminum ramp sections feature an overlapping channel design that allows for scalable widths and lengths, ensuring you can precisely meet the 1:12 slope ratio required by ADA guidelines. Engineered for high-load capacity (up to 1,000 lbs on select models), these interlocking systems are perfect for retail storefronts and industrial facilities.

Installer Pro Tip: To prevent "ramp creep" and ensure stability, anchor the leading edge into the concrete with Tapcons. Always finish the exterior seams with silicone sealant to stop water from seeping into the interlocking channels, which can lead to ice expansion and tripping hazards in cold climates.

Lipped Thresholds

Lipped Thresholds: Enhanced Security and Weather Protection

Also known as "latching saddles" or "panic thresholds," lipped thresholds feature a raised stop that the door rests against when closed. This design provides an extra layer of security by acting as a rabbet that makes forced entry more difficult. Beyond security, the lip creates a superior weather seal against wind-driven rain and drafts, making them ideal for exterior outswing doors or as a stop for vertical rod exit devices. Our selection includes various heights and widths to ensure you maintain a code-compliant entrance while maximizing building insulation.

Understanding ADA Threshold Requirements

To remain ADA compliant, a threshold must meet specific height and bevel standards. In new construction, the maximum height for a threshold is 1/2 inch. Any rise higher than 1/4 inch must be beveled with a slope no steeper than 1:2. These regulations ensure that wheeled mobility aids can navigate the doorway without being blocked or causing a jarring impact.

Modular Ramps vs. Saddle Thresholds

Choosing the right hardware depends on the "rise" or change in floor level at your opening:

  • Saddle Thresholds: Best for standard transitions where the interior and exterior floor levels are nearly even. These provide a flat surface for door bottoms to seal against while protecting the floor joint.
  • Modular Ramps: Essential when there is a significant height difference (offset) between floor surfaces. Our Modular Ramps can accommodate offsets from 1/2" up to 2-1/4", utilizing an interlocking design that maintains a safe 1:12 slope.

Safety & Durability

For exterior doors or wet environments, we highly recommend thresholds with a fluted top or a skid-resistant coating (like PemKote™). These finishes provide additional traction to prevent slips and falls. Our Rubber Transition Ramps are another excellent option for creating a "soft" transition that is both durable and easy to install on concrete or tile.
