The Sargent LB-7847 is the bare 7800 Series heavy-duty mortise lock body (case only) configured for the Front Door or Apartment Corridor Door function (ANSI F08/F10). This is the single cyl deadbolt lock case that drives the latchbolt and deadbolt; it is ordered separately from trim, cylinders and knobs so you can rebuild or reconfigure an existing Sargent mortise opening without buying a complete lockset.
Front Door or Apartment Corridor Door Function Operation (ANSI F08/F10)
The 7847 (Front Door or Apartment Corridor Door) function works as follows, per the Sargent catalog:
- Key and thumbturn both retract & project deadbolt
- Trim outside is locked by toggle or projecting deadbolt
- Trim outside is unlocked by toggle only
- Key retracts both latchbolt and deadbolt, trim outside remains locked
- Trim inside retracts latchbolt only, deadbolt is retracted manually & trim outside remains locked
- Note: Indicator shows deadbolt position only

Lock Body (Case Only) -- Field-Configurable
This listing is the mortise lock case only. It accepts the standard Sargent 7800 Series knob trim, escutcheons/roses and cylinders sold separately, so it drops into an existing prepped door. Select your finish and handing below; the case carries an auxiliary deadlatch where the function specifies one (see operation above). All 24 finish x handing variants ship at one price.
