The Sargent 8200 Series is a heavy-duty mortise platform for commercial and institutional openings. Certified to and exceeds ANSI/BHMA A156.13, Series 1000, Operational Grade 1 and Security Grade 1 with all standard trims. This listing is the Single Dummy Trim w/Lockbody function with LE1A trim -- the A lever carried on the LE1 Escutcheon.
Single Dummy Trim w/Lockbody Function
How the lock behaves at the opening, stated as the catalog states it, with what each line means in practice:
- Trim on the Inside Face Only: Trim inside only — one lever, on the inside; the outside face carries no trim at all.
- The Lever Does Not Turn: Trim is always rigid — this lever is rigid -- a fixed handle for pushing and pulling the door; it does not rotate and it operates nothing.
- Ships With the Lock Case: Includes lock case and armor front — this dummy includes the mortise case and its armored front, so it sets into a mortised pocket and shows a lock front on the door edge; the trim-only dummies do not.
- Not for the Inactive Leaf of a Pair: Not recommended on double door applications (will not accept latchbolt from active door) — this version will not receive a latchbolt from the active leaf, so Sargent does not recommend it on a pair of doors; the dummy trims prepped to take that latch are the trim-only 8293 (one face) and 8294 (both faces), which ship without a lock case and whose levers are rigid.
LE1A Trim Design
LE1A pairs the LE1 Escutcheon (1-3/4" W x 7-5/8" H (45 x 194mm), cast escutcheon with two exposed screws on the inside trim) with the A lever (5" (127mm) long, +/- 1-15/16" (49mm) return). The carrier is an escutcheon -- a full plate covering the lock area, a different part from a rose.

Door preparation: ANSI/SDI A250.14 modified per template 7057. Backset 2-3/4" (70mm) only. Confirm the stile before specifying: 4-1/2" (114mm) minimum stile for 7800/8200.
We list seven finishes online for this trim: 626 Satin Chrome, 630 Satin Stainless, 613 Oil Rubbed Bronze, 613E Oil Rubbed Bronze Equal, 605 Polished Brass, 612 Satin Bronze, 625 Polished Chrome. This function is non-keyed -- it takes no cylinder and no keyway. This trim is handed -- specify LH, RH, LHR or RHR when ordering. Here the A lever is a handed lever -- a left-hand lever will not work on a right-hand door; we order escutcheon trim handed regardless, so the hand is never in question when the lock reaches the job.
