The Sargent 8200 Series is a heavy-duty mortise platform for commercial and institutional openings. Certified to and exceeds ANSI/BHMA A156.13, Series 1000, Operational Grade 1 and Security Grade 1 with all standard trims. This listing is the Double Dummy Trim function with OA trim -- the A lever carried on the O Rose.
Double Dummy Trim Function
How the lock behaves at the opening, stated as the catalog states it, with what each line means in practice:
- The Lever Does Not Turn: Trim on both sides are always rigid — this lever is rigid -- a fixed handle for pushing and pulling the door; it does not rotate and it operates nothing.
- A Pull, Not a Lock: Trim only used as door pull — there is no lock mechanism of any kind here -- the trim mounts to the door and serves as a handle.
- Recommended for the Inactive Leaf of a Pair: Recommended for double door applications on the inactive door, use template #4298, to accept latchbolt from active door — Sargent recommends this one on the leaf that stays shut, with the door prepped to template 4298 so it can receive the latchbolt from the active leaf.
- How the Lever Mounts: Note: Lever not surface mounted — the lever fastens through the door rather than sitting on its face.
OA Trim Design
OA pairs the O Rose (2-3/4" (70mm), round) with the A lever (5" (127mm) long, +/- 1-15/16" (49mm) return). The carrier is a rose -- a compact plate around the lever, a different part from an escutcheon.
