SAFETY CAUTION

The Sargent 8200 Series is a heavy-duty mortise platform for commercial and institutional openings. Certified to and exceeds ANSI/BHMA A156.13, Series 1000, Operational Grade 1 and Security Grade 1 with all standard trims. This listing is the Privacy Latchset with Independent Deadbolt function (ANSI/BHMA F02) with LE1W trim -- the W lever carried on the LE1 Escutcheon.
Privacy Latchset with Independent Deadbolt Function (ANSI/BHMA F02)
How the lock behaves at the opening, stated as the catalog states it, with what each line means in practice:
- Lever Works the Latch from Either Side, Always: Trim from either side retracts latchbolt at all times — either lever retracts the latchbolt, and nothing locks the lever out on either face.
- Deadbolt Turned by Hand Inside: Thumbturn retracts and projects deadbolt — the thumbturn on the inside face throws the deadbolt and withdraws it again.
- Emergency Release from the Outside: Emergency release retracts and projects deadbolt – by coin, screwdriver or Emergency key (14-0057) ordered separately — from the corridor side a coin or screwdriver turns the slotted release, which withdraws the deadbolt and can throw it again, so a locked bathroom or bedroom can be opened without a cylinder anywhere on the door; Sargent's 14-0057 emergency tool does the same job and is ordered separately.
- The Two Bolts Work Independently: Latchbolt and deadbolt are independent of each other — throwing the deadbolt does not change what the latch is doing, and working the latch does not disturb the deadbolt; they are separate mechanisms sharing one case.
LE1W Trim Design
LE1W pairs the LE1 Escutcheon (1-3/4" W x 7-5/8" H (45 x 194mm), cast escutcheon with two exposed screws on the inside trim) with the W lever (4-1/2" (114mm) long, +/- 2-1/16" (52mm) return). The carrier is an escutcheon -- a full plate covering the lock area, a different part from a rose.
- Carrier: LE1 Escutcheon, 1-3/4" W x 7-5/8" H (45 x 194mm) (cast escutcheon with two exposed screws on the inside trim)
- Lever: W lever -- 4-1/2" (114mm) long, +/- 2-1/16" (52mm) return
- Handing: Ordered handed as our standard practice; specify LH, RH, LHR or RHR when ordering.
- Accessibility: All levers meet ADA compliance for national codes. Solid forged or cast. All lever height (+/- 1/16") measurements represent total distance from door face.
- Operation: Easy operation. Only 30 degrees of lever rotation required to retract latchbolt
