The Sargent 8200 Series is a heavy-duty mortise platform for commercial and institutional openings. Certified to and exceeds ANSI/BHMA A156.13, Series 1000, Operational Grade 1 and Security Grade 1 with all standard trims. How the lock behaves at the opening, stated as the catalog states it, with what each line means in practice:

• Handed Function -- Not Field Reversible: Handed function; handing must be specified. This function is NOT field reversible for handing. — this function is built to hand and cannot be re-handed on site, unlike the rest of the 8200 series whose lock bodies are field reversible; specify the hand when ordering.
• Inside Key Locks Only: Key inside only locks outside trim (does not unlock) — from inside, the key can lock the outside lever but cannot release it.
• Outside Key Locks and Unlocks: Key outside locks and unlocks outside trim — from outside, the key locks the outside lever and releases it again.
• Key outside retracts latchbolt
• Outside Lever Works Until It Is Locked: Trim outside retracts latchbolt, except when locked — the outside lever retracts the latchbolt normally, and stops the moment the lock is set against it.
• Life-Safety Free Egress: Trim inside always retracts latchbolt — the inside lever is never locked, so a single motion always gets a person out.
• Anti-Shim Protection: Auxiliary deadlatch — a small plunger beside the latchbolt rides the strike when the door closes; with it depressed the latchbolt cannot be shimmed back with a card.

TRS Trim Design

TRS pairs the TR Traditional Rose (2-3/16" (56mm), dual radii edge) with the S Sanibel lever (5" (127mm) long, +/- 2-1/2" (63mm) return). The carrier is a rose -- a compact plate around the lever, a different part from an escutcheon.

Door preparation: ANSI/SDI A250.14 modified per template 7057. Backset 2-3/4" (70mm) only. Confirm the stile before specifying: 4-1/2" (114mm) minimum stile for 7800/8200.

Keys supplied: Two, nickel silver (control key or emergency key must be ordered when required).

This trim is handed -- specify LH, RH, LHR or RHR when ordering. Here the S Sanibel lever is a handed lever -- a left-hand lever will not work on a right-hand door, and this function's lockbody is NOT field reversible either.

This function is keyed on both faces and the price includes two cylinders. Choosing LC (less cylinder) deducts for both.
