When locked, the exterior occupancy indicator signals that the room is in use. To ensure life safety, rotating the inside lever always allows for immediate free egress and automatically releases the pushbutton. From the outside, a key in the cylinder will retract the latchbolt and unlock the lever. This configuration is essential for areas requiring temporary privacy with a reliable staff override and a clear visual status.
