The PDQ 7101 is a Grade 1, heavy-duty cast-iron surface door closer. This listing is the BC (backcheck) tri-pack: one closer with the arms and brackets for regular arm, parallel arm, and top jamb mounting.
Mounting options (tri-pack)
- Regular arm — closer body on the pull side; arm projects toward the hinge jamb.
- Parallel arm — closer body on the push side; arm runs parallel to the door face. Common on glazed openings and where a push-side body is preferred.
- Top jamb — closer body on the frame face (usually pull-side soffit); arm reaches down to the door. Distinct from parallel arm — do not treat them as the same mount.
Backcheck (BC)
Backcheck adds hydraulic resistance as the door opens past about 70–75°, cushioning wind and abuse so the door, frame, and arm are less likely to slam open.
Same-hole replacement for the LCN 4040 pattern
The PDQ 7101 uses the 1"/3"/1" × 2-1/4" closer-body hole pattern (LCN 4040). It replaces an LCN 4040 / 4040XP / 4041 on the same holes with no new drilling when that pattern is already in the door.
