The 8000 Series body is cast aluminum with rack-and-pinion operation and is non-handed except where an option requires a hand. The 2026 feature list prints a 1-1/4 inch (32 mm) diameter piston, 5/8 inch pinion journals, 2-1/8 inch (54 mm) projection with standard covers, and a 250 lb door-weight rating. Spring power is adjustable through sizes 1 through 6 as outlined in ANSI/BHMA A156.4 option PT 4H. Separate latch, sweep, and backcheck intensity valves are standard and staked. Technical Details

Closer Adjustments

Use the hex wrench supplied with the closer. Never force valves out of the closer. Never completely close the backcheck valve. The door must be open to adjust spring power. Do not use a power drill -- that voids the warranty. Do not remove the valves; removal causes a fluid leak.

Professional Installation & Compatibility

Install on the interior side of the building to keep the warranty. Verify accessibility, fire, and life-safety rules with the AHJ, including mounting height and projection into the clear opening. Consult NFPA 80 for hinge requirements on a fire door. Failure to use the fasteners supplied with the closer may void the factory warranty. Sizing charts assume a 1-3/4 in x 7 ft standard-weight door to 110 degrees. Adjusting spring power to ADA / A117.1 low opening force may not latch the door under wind or stack pressure.
