The 137SA installs surface-applied to the face of the frame stop, with the dense silicone bulb compressing against the door face as the door closes. Before fastening, use the factory-slotted screw holes to slide the retainer inward or outward until the bulb makes even contact along the full height and width of the door. Drive the furnished #6 x 3/4" stainless steel sheet metal screws snugly but not so tightly that the retainer bows — a bowed retainer creates high and low spots in bulb pressure and can compromise both the air seal and the fire-door rating. Install the head piece last, overlapping or mitering the top corners to close any gap between the head and jamb runs. Because the silicone remains flexible from -81°F to 300°F and resists ozone and UV degradation, no seasonal adjustment is typically required after the initial set.
