The Hager 4900X Keyed Removable Mullion Set is a heavy-duty, tube-steel center post designed for pairs of doors equipped with rim exit devices. By mounting in the center of a double-door opening, the 4900X gives each rim device a solid strike surface — allowing two independent single-door rim devices (such as the Hager 4501) to function on a pair of doors without the complexity of vertical-rod or concealed-rod hardware. The result is a simpler, more maintainable, and more durable solution for wide commercial openings. Supplied at 84 inches in USP (BHMA 600 — Prime for Paint) finish, ready for field painting to match any door and frame color.

The 4900X is the keyed removable variant: a cylinder-operated lock secures the mullion in place so it can only be removed by an authorized key holder. (Cylinder ordered separately.) When the full opening width is needed — for equipment moves, furniture delivery, or large-item access — the mullion is unlocked and removed to clear the entire opening, then reinstalled and locked. This is a common and preferred configuration wherever rim exit devices serve a pair of doors and security over mullion removal is required.
