Dorma DP89 Drop Plate for 8900 Series Parallel-Arm Closers
What it is
DP89 is the 8900 Series drop plate for parallel-arm mounting. The 8916 closer body needs enough top rail to catch the closer and the cover. When that rail is short, this plate drops the body so the arm still hits a legal soffit bracket.
When you need this plate
Use DP89 on a parallel-arm 8900 closer when the door top rail is less than 5-3/4 in (146 mm) for non-hold-open and plunger hold-open arms. For friction hold-open parallel arms the brochure uses the same plate when the top rail is less than 6 in (152 mm), assuming a 5/8 in (16 mm) stop.

The other 8900 plate on this site is BP89 (top-jamb narrow frame face). P89 is the standard parallel bracket that ships with the closer; it is not a drop plate.

13 in wide by 4-1/2 in tall plate as printed on the 8900 brochure accessory page. Painted finishes 689 / 693 / 695. This is a plate, not a closer: it does not change spring size, valves, or cover.
Applications
Parallel-arm 8916 openings (AF89P, PHP, and the other PA arms) where the top rail is below the brochure minimum. Regular / top-jamb narrow-frame work uses BP89, not this plate.

Technical Details
Order the plate finish to the closer. Thru Bolts (SN1) stay with the 8900 closer, not this plate. Templates and the full 8900 brochure are on the Documents tab.
