Commercial Door Sill Sweeps & Bottom Seals
Eliminate air infiltration and prevent pest entry with our professional-grade commercial door sill sweeps. These surface-mounted seals are the most cost-effective way to close the gap between your door and the threshold. We stock a variety of high-performance inserts—including nylon brush, neoprene rubber, and Eco-V vinyl—in standard lengths like 36", 48", 84", and 96" to fit any single or double door opening.
Choosing the Right Sill Sweep Insert
Not all door sweeps are created equal. The environment of your opening determines which insert material you should choose:
- Nylon Brush Sweeps: The best choice for uneven floors or transition areas with carpet. The bristles flex independently to maintain a seal without dragging or causing the door to stick.
- Neoprene Sweeps: Ideal for high-performance sound (STC) and smoke ratings. Neoprene is a durable, solid rubber that offers superior resistance to extreme temperatures.
- Vinyl & Eco-V Sweeps: An economical choice for standard weather protection. These are highly effective at blocking wind and rain in mild to moderate environments.
Why Sill Sweeps are Critical for Energy Efficiency
A 1/4-inch gap under a standard 36-inch commercial door is equivalent to a 9-square-inch hole in your wall. Installing a heavy-duty sill sweep can significantly reduce your heating and cooling costs by preventing conditioned air from escaping. For exterior doors, we recommend pairing these with our Overhead Rain Drip Caps for a complete weather-tight seal.
Installation Tip: The "Light Test"
To ensure your sill sweep is installed correctly, close the door and look for light coming through the bottom. The sweep should be positioned so that the seal material firmly touches the beveled edge of the threshold (the sill) without folding over or causing excessive resistance when the door latches.
