Choosing the Right Flood Shield Height
The height of your shield should be determined by your local flood zone requirements and past water levels in your area. We offer three standard heights for various risk levels:
- 10-Inch Shields: Ideal for flash flooding and protecting against heavy rain splashes or waves from passing vehicles.
- 22-Inch Shields: Our most popular size for standard commercial flood protection in moderate-risk zones.
- 34-Inch Shields: Designed for high-risk areas where significant standing water is a known threat.
How the Sealing Mechanism Works
Unlike sandbags, which are porous and heavy, our Flood Shields use a sophisticated spring-loaded compression system. Stainless steel springs maintain constant tension against closed-cell neoprene gaskets on the bottom and sides of the shield. When water pushes against the barrier, the pressure actually helps tighten the seal against the mounting channels, ensuring maximum water resistance.
Installation: Inside vs. Outside Mount
- Inside Mount: The mounting channels are installed between the door jambs. This is often preferred for aesthetic reasons as the channels are less visible when the shield is not in use.
- Outside Mount: Channels are installed on the exterior face of the wall or door frame. This is ideal when there isn't enough depth in the jamb for an inside mount or when you want to protect the entire door frame from water exposure.
