Function Info: For twin communicating or exit doors where one-sided operation is required. Latchbolt retracted by knob/lever inside at all times. No outside operations. Deadlocking latchbolt. Not available with E3 or E4 escutcheons.
The Accentra MOR 8828FL (formerly Yale 8800 Series) is a heavy-duty Exit Or Communicating Lock Function mortise latchset built for commercial and institutional openings. It is certified to ANSI/BHMA A156.13 Series 1000, Grade 1 -- the highest operational and security grade the standard defines -- and carries the Monroe (MOR) lever on the standard rose.
Built for openings that are opened and closed thousands of times a year, it uses a wrought steel, zinc dichromate plated case, 3/8" solid steel (heat treated) hubs and a 3/4" throw stainless steel anti-friction latchbolt. Available in fourteen architectural finishes, it is field reversible and ships with the door prep and installation drawings for the trim shown.
Function Details: Exit Or Communicating Lock (ANSI/BHMA F31)
- For a Communicating or Exit Pair: For twin communicating or exit doors where one-sided operation is required — built for openings worked from one side only -- a pair of communicating doors, or an exit leaf that is never entered through.
- Life-Safety Free Egress: Latchbolt retracted by knob/lever inside at all times — the inside lever is never locked, so a single motion always gets a person out.
- Nothing on the Outside Face: No outside operations — there is no lever and no cylinder outside -- this opening is worked from the inside only, and the trim you order is the inside trim.
- Anti-Shim Protection: Deadlocking latchbolt — a small plunger beside the latchbolt rides the strike when the door closes; with it depressed the latchbolt cannot be shimmed back with a card.
- Not Offered on Every Escutcheon: Not available with E3 or E4 escutcheons — the factory does not build this function with those two plates, so the trim has to be chosen from the ones it is offered in.
