Accentra JNCN 8824FL Holdback Mortise Lockset – Grade 1 Security

Function Info: For classroom, office, or utility room doors. Latchbolt retracted by knob/lever either side, except when outside knob/lever is locked by key outside. Latchbolt can be held in retracted position by outside cylinder. Inside knob/lever always active. Deadlocking latchbolt. NOT UL listed.
The Accentra JNCN 8824FL (formerly Yale 8800 Series) is a heavy-duty Holdback Lock Function mortise lockset built for commercial and institutional openings. It is certified to ANSI/BHMA A156.13 Series 1000, Grade 1 -- the highest operational and security grade the standard defines -- and carries the Jefferson (JNCN) lever on the Camden escutcheon.
Built for openings that are opened and closed thousands of times a year, it uses a wrought steel, zinc dichromate plated case, 3/8" solid steel (heat treated) hubs and a 3/4" throw stainless steel anti-friction latchbolt. Supplied in 626 Satin Chrome, it is field reversible and ships with the door prep and installation drawings for the trim shown.
Function Details: Holdback Lock (ANSI/BHMA F06)
- Typical Application: For classroom, office, or utility room doors — the openings this function is written for.
- Outside Lever Works Until It Is Locked: Latchbolt retracted by knob/lever either side, except when outside knob/lever is locked by key outside — the outside lever retracts the latchbolt normally, and stops the moment the lock is set against it.
- Holdback Set by Key: Latchbolt can be held in retracted position by outside cylinder — the holdback is set with the key from outside, so the person holding the key decides when the opening is left free-swinging.
- Life-Safety Free Egress: Inside knob/lever always active — the inside lever is never locked, so a single motion always gets a person out.
- Anti-Shim Protection: Deadlocking latchbolt — a small plunger beside the latchbolt rides the strike when the door closes; with it depressed the latchbolt cannot be shimmed back with a card.
- Not UL Listed -- Not for a Fire Door: NOT UL listed — this function carries no UL fire listing, so it cannot go on a labelled fire opening; that door needs a listed function instead.
Key Performance Features
- ANSI/BHMA Grade 1 Certified: Independently tested to the highest operational and security grade the standard defines, for long service life in demanding commercial and institutional openings.
- Accessible Operation: The lever is operable without tight grasping, pinching or wrist twisting, which is what ADA 404.2.7 requires of an accessible opening.
- Field Reversible: Furnished right hand and re-handed in the field, so one lock suits either door swing without a return.
- Anti-Friction Latchbolt: A stainless steel one-piece latch that closes quietly and resists the drag that wears a latch out on a high-traffic door.
- Heavy-Duty Hubs: Heat-treated solid steel through the point that takes every turn of the lever, which is where a lighter lock fails first.
- Mechanical Warranty: Backed for the long term against defects in the mechanical lock.
