Accentra HACN 8895-2FL Fail Secure Electrified Mortise Lockset – Double Cylinder, Both Levers Locked

Function Info: Power off - both levers locked. Power on - both levers active. Auxiliary latch deadlocks latchbolt. Mechanical key override by both sides when locked.
The Accentra HACN 8895-2FL (formerly Yale 8800 Series) is a heavy-duty Fail Secure electrified mortise lockset with EcoFlex low-power technology -- double cylinder, both levers locked -- built for access-controlled commercial and institutional openings. It is certified to ANSI/BHMA A156.13 Series 1000, Operational Grade 1. With the Camden escutcheon it also meets Security Grade 1. Factory set fail secure (power off - both levers locked; power on - both levers active); it carries the Hampton (HACN) lever on the Camden escutcheon.
Built for openings that are opened and closed thousands of times a year, it uses a wrought steel, zinc dichromate plated case, 3/8" solid steel (heat treated) hubs and a 3/4" throw stainless steel anti-friction latchbolt. Available in five architectural finishes, it is field reversible and ships with the door prep and installation drawings for the trim shown.
EcoFlex reduces energy consumption by up to 92% (GreenCircle certified) and lets the lock run on 12-24VDC (operating voltage not to exceed +/- 10%) at 15mA @ 12V or 24V continuous; 500mA @ 12V or 24V peak (max 2 locks per 1A power supply), so more locks share one power supply and longer cable runs do not degrade operation. Operating temperature -13F (-25C) to 151F (66C). The lock body ships fail secure and is field configurable to the other mode by a dip switch on the case, accessible before installation only, with a power cycle after the change. ElectroLynx connectors are standard (the door hinge must carry a compatible number of lead wires). Monitor switches available on this function, selectable above: Latchbolt Monitor (LBM) -- an SPDT switch that monitors full retraction of the latchbolt; Request to Exit (REX) -- an SPDT switch that monitors activation of the free lever. Typical applications: stair tower doors, office doors, classrooms, interlocks, elevator lobby doors, laboratories, computer rooms, cashier stations, hospital equipment rooms and pharmaceutical storage rooms.
FAIL SAFE / FAIL SECURE -- LIFE SAFETY
The system shall not be installed in fail secure mode unless permitted by the local authority having jurisdiction and shall not interfere with the operation of Listed panic hardware. (Accentra 8800 Series Electrified Mortise EcoFlex Locks Installation Instructions, 80-8800-0002-000)
DoorwaysPlus Note: Fail safe or fail secure is a life-safety decision governed by the applicable building and fire codes and the authority having jurisdiction -- stair re-entry, fire-alarm release and free egress from the secure side all bear on it -- not a matter of preference. Installation, power supply sizing and wiring are the work of a licensed electrical contractor or access control integrator. Gardner-Tobin Inc dba DoorwaysPlus supplies the hardware; it does not specify, install, or program it.

- Mechanical key override by both sides when locked
Key Performance Features
- ANSI/BHMA Grade 1 Certified: Independently tested to the highest operational and security grade the standard defines, for long service life in demanding commercial and institutional openings.
- 3-Hour Fire Rating: UL and cUL listed for use on fire-rated door assemblies, so the opening stays code compliant.
- Accessible Operation: The lever is operable without tight grasping, pinching or wrist twisting, which is what ADA 404.2.7 requires of an accessible opening.
- Field Reversible: Furnished right hand and re-handed in the field, so one lock suits either door swing without a return.
- Anti-Friction Latchbolt: A stainless steel one-piece latch that closes quietly and resists the drag that wears a latch out on a high-traffic door.
- Heavy-Duty Hubs: Heat-treated solid steel through the point that takes every turn of the lever, which is where a lighter lock fails first.
- Electrified Warranty: The electrified mortise lock is covered by the factory's two-year electrified warranty (catalog p.46), distinct from the ten-year mechanical term.
- EcoFlex Low-Power Operation: Up to 92% less energy than a conventional electrified lock, GreenCircle certified, which cuts power-supply count and operating cost across a building.
- 12-24VDC Operation: One lock body covers both common access-control voltages, with 15mA continuous draw so longer cable runs and shared supplies work without voltage-drop trouble.
- Field Configurable Fail Safe / Fail Secure: A dip switch on the lock case sets the mode before installation, so one body serves either application once the code authority has ruled which is required.
- ElectroLynx Connectors: Plug-together wiring from the electrified hinge to the lock, no field splicing at the door.
