The Accentra CRSL SL8832FL (formerly Yale SL8800 Series) is the heavy-duty security version of the 8800 Hotel/Motel Lock Function mortise lockset, built for openings where heavy abuse or vandalism is a concern. It is certified to ANSI/BHMA A156.13 Series 1000, Operational Grade 1, and the SL8800 with its security escutcheon also meets Security Grade 1. It carries the Carmel (CRSL) lever on the SL security escutcheon.
Built for openings that are opened and closed thousands of times a year, it uses a wrought steel, zinc dichromate plated case, 3/8" solid steel (heat treated) hubs and a 3/4" throw stainless steel anti-friction latchbolt. Supplied in 630 Satin Stainless Steel, it is field reversible and ships with the door prep and installation drawings for the trim shown.
The SL security escutcheon is what sets this lock apart: heavy duty escutcheon trim that is flat against the door to resist damage and vandalism; lever attached directly to escutcheon for added security; thrubolted security head screws offer added protection. The SL8800 is furnished in 630 Satin Stainless Steel only; levers are Nickel Plated to match Stainless Steel.
Function Details: Hotel/Motel Lock
- Key Outside, Lever Inside: Latchbolt retracted by key outside, knob/lever inside — entry from outside is by key; the inside lever works the latch without one, so nobody is ever held in.
- Keys Reach the Latch Only With the Deadbolt Withdrawn: Latchbolt retracted by master keys and change keys only when deadbolt is NOT projected — with the deadbolt thrown, neither a change key nor a master key will open the door.
- Deadbolt on a Restricted Key Outside, Thumbturn Inside: Deadbolt operated by emergency/shut-out or display key only outside and thumbturn inside — an ordinary guest key will not move this deadbolt -- only the emergency, shut-out or display key does, while the occupant uses the thumbturn.
- The Lever Does Not Turn: Outside knob/lever rigid at all times — this lever is rigid -- a fixed handle for pushing and pulling the door; it does not rotate and it operates nothing.
- One Motion Retracts Both Bolts: Anti-panic operation. Operating inside knob/lever retracts the latchbolt and deadbolt simultaneously. — in an emergency a single turn of the inside lever pulls the latchbolt and the deadbolt back together, so nobody has to release two things to get out.
- Anti-Shim Protection: Deadlocking latchbolt — a small plunger beside the latchbolt rides the strike when the door closes; with it depressed the latchbolt cannot be shimmed back with a card.
- Requires a 7-Pin Master Key System: Master key system must be 7-pin — the keying schedule has to be built on seven pins for this function, so it is planned into the system rather than added to a six-pin one later.
- What the Indicator Reports: Note: Indicator shows deadbolt position only — where the indicator option is specified on this function, it reports the position of the deadbolt and nothing else.
Key Performance Features
- ANSI/BHMA Grade 1 Certified: Independently tested to the highest operational and security grade the standard defines, for long service life in demanding commercial and institutional openings.
- 3-Hour Fire Rating: UL and cUL listed for use on fire-rated door assemblies, so the opening stays code compliant.
- Accessible Operation: The lever is operable without tight grasping, pinching or wrist twisting, which is what ADA 404.2.7 requires of an accessible opening.
- Field Reversible: Furnished right hand and re-handed in the field, so one lock suits either door swing without a return.
- Anti-Friction Latchbolt: A stainless steel one-piece latch that closes quietly and resists the drag that wears a latch out on a high-traffic door.
- Heavy-Duty Hubs: Heat-treated solid steel through the point that takes every turn of the lever, which is where a lighter lock fails first.
- Mechanical Warranty: Backed for the long term against defects in the mechanical lock.
