Function Info: Latchbolt retracted by knob/lever either side, except when outside knob/lever is locked by stopwork activator. Deadbolt operated by key outside, thumbturn inside. The Accentra AUR 8847FL (formerly Yale 8800 Series) is a heavy-duty Apartment Corridor Door Lock Function mortise lockset built for commercial and institutional openings. It is certified to ANSI/BHMA A156.13 Series 1000, Grade 1 -- the highest operational and security grade the standard defines -- and carries the Augusta (AUR) lever on the standard rose.
Built for openings that are opened and closed thousands of times a year, it uses a wrought steel, zinc dichromate plated case, 3/8" solid steel (heat treated) hubs and a 3/4" throw stainless steel anti-friction latchbolt. Supplied in 626 Satin Chrome, it is field reversible and ships with the door prep and installation drawings for the trim shown.
Function Details: Apartment Corridor Door Lock (ANSI/BHMA F20)
- The Stopwork Locks the Outside Lever: Latchbolt retracted by knob/lever either side, except when outside knob/lever is locked by stopwork activator — the levers work the latch from both faces until the stopwork is set; the stopwork is a control inside the lock case that holds the outside lever rigid, so it turns but no longer reaches the latch.
- Deadbolt, Keyed Outside and Turned Inside: Deadbolt operated by key outside, thumbturn inside — the deadbolt can be thrown or withdrawn from outside with the key and from inside by hand, so the opening can be secured from whichever side the person is on.
- Key Clears Both Bolts: When outside knob/lever is locked, latchbolt and deadbolt are operated by key outside — the key retracts the latchbolt and the deadbolt, and the outside lever remains locked after it does.
- Projecting the Deadbolt Locks the Outside Lever: When deadbolt is projected, outside knob/lever is automatically locked — with the deadbolt thrown the outside lever is locked, and it works again once the deadbolt is withdrawn.
- Life-Safety Free Egress -- and the Outside Stays Locked: Anti-panic operation. Operating inside knob/lever automatically retracts latchbolt and deadbolt with outside knob/lever remaining locked. — the inside lever is never locked, so a single motion always gets a person out -- and on this function that same motion withdraws the deadbolt along with the latch, while the outside lever remains locked behind whoever left.
- Anti-Shim Protection: Deadlocking latchbolt — a small plunger beside the latchbolt rides the strike when the door closes; with it depressed the latchbolt cannot be shimmed back with a card.
- What the Indicator Reports: Note: Indicator shows deadbolt position only — where the indicator option is specified on this function, it reports the position of the deadbolt and nothing else.
