Accentra 8833-2 All-Purpose Lock Mortise Deadlatch – Grade 1 Durability

The Accentra 8833-2 (formerly Yale 8800 Series) is a heavy-duty All-Purpose Lock Function mortise deadlatch built for commercial and institutional openings. It is certified to ANSI/BHMA A156.13 Series 1000, Grade 1 -- the highest operational and security grade the standard defines -- and is supplied with its armor front and cylinder, with no knob or lever trim.
Built for openings that are opened and closed thousands of times a year, it uses a wrought steel, zinc dichromate plated case and a 3/4" throw stainless steel anti-friction latchbolt. Available in fourteen architectural finishes, it ships with the door prep and installation drawings for this function.
Function Details: All-Purpose Lock
- Keyed From Both Sides: Latchbolt retracted by key both sides — a key retracts the latchbolt from either face.
- No Knob or Lever on Either Face: No knob/lever either side — there is nothing to grip on either side of the door: the key alone works the latch, from outside or inside.
- Anti-Shim Protection: Deadlocking latchbolt — a small plunger beside the latchbolt rides the strike when the door closes; with it depressed the latchbolt cannot be shimmed back with a card.
- Not Offered on Every Escutcheon: Not available with E3 or E4 escutcheons — the factory does not build this function with those two plates, so the trim has to be chosen from the ones it is offered in.
