Cutting a mortise pocket in an existing cylindrical-prepped door in the field is labor-intensive and may not be feasible on a fire-rated door without manufacturer recertification. Conversely, drilling a cylindrical prep into a mortise-prepped door edge leaves the mortise pocket open and requires a filler plate.

Specify the lock platform before the door order is placed. This is the single most important coordination item on electrified openings.
