System Operation:
The exit alarm kit is a simple way to monitor the use of an exit. While still a means of egress, the unit contains an internal horn (alarm). When the touchbar is depressed, the horn sounds, thus providing an audible means of signaling that the opening has been violated.
The cylinder/key switch serves three functions:
- Silences the Alarm
- Provides a 20 second delay in the alarm activation, allowing authorized personnel to use the exit.
- Deactivates the alarm, allowing free use of the opening.
The unit operates on one standard 9V battery. When the battery is weak the horn will emit an intermittent signal.
**** Special Note: Exit Devices with Exit Alarms use Mortise Cylinders, whereas, Exit Alarms can use both Rim and Mortise Cylinders. When using mortise cylinders pay attention to the tailpiece on the back. The shape, length, and configuration is important to the function of the exit alarm. ****
Alarmed Exit Devices

Exit Alarms
