Delayed Egress Magnetic Lock Application
Protect your assets and ensure occupant safety with our Delayed Egress Magnetic Lock Applications. This high-security configuration is engineered to deter unauthorized exiting by implementing a controlled 15 or 30-second delay upon an attempted exit. By integrating a professional delayed egress mag lock with local audible alarms and fire system overrides, you create a robust security boundary that meets strict NFPA 101 Life Safety codes while effectively reducing "push-and-run" theft in retail and commercial settings.

System Operation:
Delayed egress systems function by maintaining a lock's bond for a short period after an exit attempt is detected, allowing security personnel time to respond.
- The door shall be normally closed and secured by a delayed egress electromagnetic lock.
- The locking device shall be designed so that any attempt to egress during non-emergency situations shall initiate an irreversible 15 second delay be fore allowing the locking device to release.
- The irreversible delay shall be initiated by no more than 15 lbs of force continuously applied to the release hardware for a period not to exceed three seconds.
- Initiation of the delayed egress cycle shall activate a signal that the system is functional.
- Authorized egress and system reset shall be allowed by using the key to deactivate it on the electromagnetic lock.
- The system shall include a mandatory self-adhering sign for application to the egress side of the door.
- The lock shall interface with an approved supervised fire system for immediate release upon fire emergency activation.
Operations Summary:
- Secured State: The delayed egress mag lock is energized and holds the door securely. The internal sensor or push bar monitors for physical pressure.
- Activation: An unauthorized user pushes the door. Once a specific force is applied for more than 1–3 seconds (the "nuisance delay"), the system triggers.
- Alarm & Countdown: An internal high-decibel siren sounds immediately, and the countdown begins (typically 15 seconds). This alerts staff that a security breach is in progress.
- Release: Once the countdown expires, the magnetic bond is neutralized, and the door opens freely for egress.
- Reset: The system must be manually reset using a keyswitch or authorized digital code to silence the alarm and re-energize the lock.
- Life Safety Override: The delay is automatically bypassed if the building's fire alarm is activated or if power is lost, ensuring an immediate, unhindered exit path during emergencies.
