Securitron EPT Concealed Electrical Power Transfer — Standard Swing, 10" Cord

The Securitron EPT is a concealed electrical power transfer device designed to route low-voltage wiring from a fixed door frame across the hinge line to the moving door leaf — without exposed cables or armored door cords running on the face of the door. It is the clean, professional solution for electrified commercial openings where power must reach an electric lock, electric strike, reader, or request-to-exit device mounted in or on the door.

The EPT mounts in routed pockets in both the door edge and the frame edge, using internal sliding or wiping contacts to maintain a reliable electrical connection through the full swing arc of the door. The included 10-inch cord connects the frame-side unit to the in-door wiring run, keeping the installation concealed and protected. This model is rated for standard swing door applications.

Why Electrical Power Transfer Matters

Any time an electrified hardware device — electric mortise lock, electric cylindrical lock, electric panic bar trim, card reader, or REX sensor — is mounted in the door body, power and signal conductors must cross the hinge line. Without a proper transfer device, installers are left with exposed flexible cables that are vulnerable to wear, pinching, and code objections. The Securitron EPT solves this by keeping all conductors concealed inside the door and frame edges, producing a finished appearance acceptable in office, healthcare, education, and institutional environments.

Key Benefits

  • Concealed installation — no visible cables at the door edge; clean finish for commercial interiors
  • Standard swing rated — designed for conventional single-door swing applications on butt-hinge or continuous-hinge doors
  • 10-inch cord included — provides the flexible connection between frame unit and in-door wiring
  • Compatible with most butt-hinge and continuous-hinge doors — versatile across common commercial door types
  • Supports access control system wiring — carries power and signal conductors for electric locks, readers, door position switches, and REX devices
  • Part of the Securitron power transfer family — integrates with Securitron AQL/AQD power supplies and the broader ASSA ABLOY electrified opening ecosystem

Typical Applications

  • Office and tenant suite entry doors with electric cylindrical or mortise locks
  • Healthcare and institutional doors requiring concealed wiring to electric panic hardware trim
  • Access-controlled doors with card readers or keypads mounted on the door face
  • Any opening where door-position switch or REX wiring must cross the hinge gap cleanly
  • Retrofit installations replacing exposed door cords with a concealed solution

Wire Count Planning

When specifying the EPT, confirm the total conductor count needed for all functions at the opening. A basic electric lock requires 2 conductors; adding door position switch monitoring adds 2 more; a request-to-exit device adds another 2; status monitoring may add 2 additional — totaling up to 8 or more conductors. Specify a transfer device with sufficient conductor capacity to cover all active functions plus a minimum of 2 spare conductors for future use.

Note: The EPT does not work on center-pivot door installations. For center-pivot doors, the pivot point itself must serve as the transfer location.
