Versatile Apartment & Corridor Function (ANSI F20)
The 8243 function is purpose-built for residential life-safety and security. It allows for a seamless transition between "passage" and "locked" modes via the face-mounted stop works.
- Deadbolt Security: Features a 1" throw hardened stainless steel deadbolt that is projected or retracted by a key from the exterior or a thumbturn from the interior.
- Stop Works (Toggle) Control: The outside lever is made rigid (locked) or operative (unlocked) by the stop works toggle on the lock face. This allows residents to keep the door unlocked during the day for easy access and locked at night for security.
- Automatic Deadbolt Retraction: For ease of use, the deadbolt is retracted by the interior lever, providing immediate exit without needing to manually turn the thumbturn first.
- Single-Motion Egress: In an emergency, the inside lever retracts both the latchbolt and the deadbolt simultaneously, meeting all ADA and Life Safety codes.
