Rim Devices

Mortise Devices

**** Note: This is intended for Narrow Stile (8300 & 8500 Series) Wide Stile (8800 & 8900 Series) Rim or Mortise Exit Devices ****
The Sargent 744 ETL is a heavy-duty, vandal-resistant outside exit trim engineered for high-security commercial and institutional openings. Specifically designed for Sargent 80 Series exit devices, this trim features a freewheeling lever that rotates freely when locked to prevent damage from excessive force or vandalism. Operating as a Night Latch (ANSI 03) function, the lever remains inactive until a key is used to retract the latch, providing a perfect solution for perimeter security and restricted entry points.
Professional-Grade Security and Durability
The Sargent 744 ETL is part of the legendary 700 Series line, known for its modular compatibility and industrial strength.
- Freewheeling Protection: When locked, the lever handle is disconnected from the internal mechanism. If someone attempts to force the door open with a tool or body weight, the lever simply spins without snapping the internal spindle, ensuring the door remains secure.
- Night Latch Function (ANSI 03): This trim is designed for "Key Retracts Latch" operation. The lever is always locked from the outside; turning the key retracts the latchbolt for entry. This is the standard for storerooms or secondary exits where entry must always be keyed.
- Modular Compatibility: The 744 ETL is built to fit a wide range of 80 Series hardware, including Narrow Stile (8300/8500) and Wide Stile (8800/8900) rim and mortise devices.
- Architectural Excellence: Constructed with a solid cast escutcheon and through-bolted to the chassis, it meets ANSI/BHMA Grade 1 standards for cycle life and structural integrity.

Important Ordering & Installation Notes
- Handing: This trim is not field reversible. You must specify Left Hand Reverse (LHR) or Right Hand Reverse (RHR) to ensure the lever orientation matches your door swing.
- Cylinder Selection: This trim can be provided Less Cylinder. For Rim devices (8500/8800), you will need a Sargent #34 Rim Cylinder. For Mortise devices (8300/8900), a Sargent #46 Mortise Cylinder (1-3/4" Door Thickness) is required.
- Suffix Variations: Depending on your specific exit device (e.g., concealed rod vs. surface rod), different mounting suffixes (like -4 or -8) may be required.

Special Note: The door handing information is needed upon order placement. If you are unsure of the handing of your door, please compare the picture below to your opening for clarification.
