The Rockwood 627 series is tailored to specific door thicknesses to ensure a flush, secure fit. If your door falls outside the 627's range, consider these alternatives:

• Rockwood 628: For thin doors (9/16" to 13/16")

• Rockwood 627 (Current): For standard commercial doors (1-3/8" to 2-1/4")

The Rockwood 627 is a critical security upgrade for "Safe Room" protocols in schools and offices. Because it is UL Fire Rated, it maintains the integrity of fire-rated corridors while providing life-saving visibility. For a professional installation, we recommend using a 9/16" high-speed steel bit and drilling from both sides of the door to meet in the middle; this prevents "blowout" or splintering of the door face and ensures the viewer sits perfectly flush.

Installation Note: This viewer is secured via a threaded brass housing. Once the 9/16" hole is prepared, the two halves thread together, creating a "sandwich" grip. For high-traffic hotel rooms, we suggest a drop of thread-locker on the internal threads to prevent guests from unscrewing the viewer from the inside.
