PDQ MR186 DJEJ Grade 1 Apartment Mortise Lock - Keyed Apartment Entry (Handed)
The PDQ MR186 DJEJ is an architectural-grade, Grade 1 Apartment Mortise Lock for demanding, high-traffic commercial and institutional openings. It pairs the Dallas (DJ) lever -- a curved lever with a rounded return -- on a J-Series Escutcheon in a US32D (630) Satin Stainless finish, and is engineered to exceed the rigorous standards of BHMA Series 1000. It is a purpose-built solution for apartment and multi-family entry doors where the inside occupant controls exterior access with a key while management retains keyed entry. This is a handed function and is not field reversible. Its "return-to-door" design is ADA compliant and helps prevent clothing, bags, or straps from snagging on the hardware in busy corridors.
Built to withstand punishing institutional use, the MR Series drives a 3/4" throw anti-friction stainless steel latchbolt with an auxiliary deadlatch from a heavy-gauge steel case seated deep in the door pocket -- providing significantly higher forced-entry protection than standard cylindrical locks, the industry standard for schools, hospitals, and government offices.
ANSI Function F09: Apartment Security
The ANSI F09 Apartment Function lets the inside occupant lock or unlock the outside lever with a key, while an outside key always retracts the latchbolt for authorized entry:

- Vandal-Resistant Engineering: The trim features a break-away spindle design; extreme torque or a hammer attack breaks the spindle without compromising the internal locking mechanism.

Handing: This is a handed function and is Not Field Reversible. The lock is built to a specific door hand at the factory. Specify the door hand when ordering -- LH (LHR) or RH (RHR). Refer to the diagram above to determine the hand of your door.
