The PDQ MR179 KJEJ is an architectural-grade, Grade 1 Privacy with Deadbolt and Egress Function Mortise Lock for high-traffic commercial environments. It pairs the Ball Knob (KJ) knob -- a rounded ball knob -- on a J-Series Escutcheon in a US32D (630) Satin Stainless finish, and is engineered to exceed the rigorous standards of BHMA Series 1000. It suits restrooms and private rooms that need a deadbolt for privacy plus single-motion egress, with an emergency coin-turn release on the outside.
Built to withstand punishing institutional use, the MR Series uses a heavy-duty forged brass and stainless steel internal mechanism and a 1-inch throw investment cast stainless steel deadbolt inside a deep mortise cassette -- providing significantly higher forced-entry protection than standard cylindrical locks, the industry standard for schools, hospitals, and government offices.
ANSI Function F19: Privacy with Deadbolt and Egress
The Privacy with Deadbolt and Egress function operates the latchbolt from either lever, adds a deadbolt thrown by an interior thumbturn with an outside emergency coin-turn release, and retracts both latch and deadbolt from the inside lever in a single motion:
- Latchbolt operated by lever from either side.
- Emergency coin turn outside retracts deadbolt.
