The PDQ MR178 MJSJ is an architectural-grade, Grade 1 Privacy with Deadbolt Mortise Lock for demanding, high-traffic commercial and institutional openings. It pairs the Miami (MJ) lever -- a gently curved lever with a rounded tip -- on a J-Series Sectional (round rose) in a US32D (630) Satin Stainless finish, and is engineered to exceed the rigorous standards of BHMA Series 1000. It is a non-keyed privacy solution for restrooms, dressing rooms, and private offices where an inside thumbturn throws a deadbolt for privacy and an outside emergency coin-turn allows entry in an emergency. This is a handed function and is not field reversible. Its "return-to-door" design is ADA compliant and helps prevent clothing, bags, or straps from snagging on the hardware in busy corridors.
Built to withstand punishing institutional use, the MR Series drives a 1" throw investment-cast stainless steel deadbolt and a 3/4" anti-friction stainless latchbolt from a heavy-gauge steel case seated deep in the door pocket -- providing significantly higher forced-entry protection than standard cylindrical locks, the industry standard for schools, hospitals, and government offices.
ANSI Function F02: Privacy with Deadbolt
The ANSI F02 Privacy with Deadbolt Function operates the latchbolt from either side and adds a privacy deadbolt controlled by an inside thumbturn, with an outside emergency coin-turn release:
