The PDQ MR176 MJEJ is an architectural-grade, Grade 1 Privacy Function Mortise Lock for high-traffic commercial environments. It pairs the Miami (MJ) lever -- a gently curved lever with a rounded tip -- on a J-Series Escutcheon in a US32D (630) Satin Stainless finish, and is engineered to exceed the rigorous standards of BHMA Series 1000. It suits restrooms, locker rooms, and other single-occupancy rooms that need privacy from the inside with an emergency release from the outside. Its "return-to-door" design is ADA compliant and helps prevent clothing, bags, or straps from snagging on the hardware in busy corridors.
Built to withstand punishing institutional use, the MR Series uses a heavy-duty forged brass and stainless steel internal mechanism inside a deep mortise cassette -- providing significantly higher forced-entry protection than standard cylindrical locks, the industry standard for schools, hospitals, and government offices.
ANSI Function F22: Privacy
The Privacy function operates the latchbolt from either lever and locks the outside lever by an interior thumbturn, with an emergency coin-turn release on the outside; the lock also releases when the door is closed or the inside lever is rotated:
