PDQ MR126 HJEJ Grade 1 Passage Function Mortise Lock - Heavy Duty
The PDQ MR126 HJEJ is an architectural-grade, Grade 1 Passage Function Mortise Lock for high-traffic commercial environments. It pairs the Houston (HJ) lever -- a solid, substantial straight lever -- on a J-Series Escutcheon in a US32D (630) Satin Stainless finish, and is engineered to exceed the rigorous standards of BHMA Series 1000. It suits corridor, closet, and other openings that need a latch to hold the door closed but never need to lock. Its "return-to-door" design is ADA compliant and helps prevent clothing, bags, or straps from snagging on the hardware in busy corridors.
Built to withstand punishing institutional use, the MR Series uses a heavy-duty forged brass and stainless steel internal mechanism inside a deep mortise cassette -- providing significantly higher forced-entry protection than standard cylindrical locks, the industry standard for schools, hospitals, and government offices.
ANSI Function F01: Passage
The Passage function operates the latchbolt from either lever; both levers are always free and the door does not lock:
- Latchbolt operated by lever from either side.

High-Performance Solutions for Building Security
The PDQ MR Series Mortise Lock addresses the most demanding commercial infrastructure challenges:
- Maximum Forced Entry Resistance: The steel cassette fits deep into the door pocket, providing superior resistance against "kick-in" attacks and physical tampering versus single-point cylindrical locks.
- Free Passage: Both levers are always free; the latch simply keeps the door closed with no locking -- ideal for corridors, closets, and other openings that never need to lock.
- Anti-Sag Lever Technology: The Houston lever is supported by an independent, high-tension spring cartridge that returns the handle to a level horizontal position every time.
- Vandal-Resistant Engineering: The trim features a break-away spindle design; extreme torque or a hammer attack breaks the spindle without compromising the internal locking mechanism.
- Architectural Integration: The Satin Stainless (US32D) base finish offers a clean, professional appearance and excellent corrosion resistance; premium finishes (605, 606, 612, 613E, 622, 629) are also available.
Finish availability: This J-Series lockset is offered in 630 (US32D Satin Stainless) as the base finish, plus premium architectural finishes 605, 606, 612, 613E, 622, 629. It is not offered in 626 (626 is an F-Series finish).

Handing: This mortise lockset is Not Field Reversible. Specify the door hand when ordering -- LH (LHR) or RH (RHR). Refer to the diagram above to determine the hand of your door.
