ANSI/BHMA Function: Rim Exit Device (Panic Hardware)
The PDQ 4200R operates as a standard Rim Exit Device, characterized by a latch bolt that engages a strike mounted on the door frame (soffit).
- Exit Operation: Pressing the touch bar at any point along its length retracts the latch bolt instantly, allowing for immediate emergency egress.
- Dogging Feature (Hex Key): As a non-fire-rated device, it includes a manual "dogging" mechanism. Using a standard hex key, the latch can be locked in the retracted position. This converts the door into a "push/pull" entrance during business hours, reducing wear on the internal mechanism and providing convenience in high-traffic scenarios.
- Security Logic: Once the dogging is released, the stainless steel latch bolt automatically re-engages the strike, providing secure perimeter control against unauthorized entry from the outside.
