Built for openings that are opened and closed thousands of times a year, it uses a wrought steel, zinc dichromate plated case, 3/8" solid steel (heat treated) hubs and a 3/4" throw stainless steel anti-friction latchbolt. Available in fourteen architectural finishes, it is field reversible and ships with the door prep and installation drawings for the trim shown.
Motorized Electric Latch Retraction (MELR) Option -- 8805FL x MELR
This function is offered with Accentra's Motorized Electric Latch Retraction (MELR) option; select it in the Accentra Electrified Lock Options above to add it to the order. From the catalog: The Motorized Electric Latch Retraction (MELR) mortise lock is designed for commercial, institutional, and industrial facilities for access control of openings where code compliance, dependable operation and resistance to physical abuse is required. This unique option brings motorized electric latch retraction to passage, storeroom or institutional function mortise locksets. The 8800 Series MELR mortise lock is the perfect solution for push-pull conditions or handicap access and is ideal for use with automatic operators to facilitate accessibility/ADA compliance and possible hands-free access.
8805FL x MELR (Storeroom) function:
- Power off - latchbolt extended, outside lever rigid/locked.

Function Details: Storeroom Or Closet Lock (ANSI/BHMA F07)
- Typical Application: For use on storeroom, utility, exit doors — the openings this function is written for -- rooms kept locked that must still allow exit.
- Key Outside, Lever Inside: Latchbolt retracted by key outside, knob/lever inside — entry from outside is by key; the inside lever works the latch without one, so nobody is ever held in.
- The Lever Does Not Turn: Outside knob/lever rigid at all times — this lever is rigid -- a fixed handle for pushing and pulling the door; it does not rotate and it operates nothing.
- Life-Safety Free Egress: Inside knob/lever always active — the inside lever is never locked, so a single motion always gets a person out.
- Anti-Shim Protection: Deadlocking latchbolt — a small plunger beside the latchbolt rides the strike when the door closes; with it depressed the latchbolt cannot be shimmed back with a card.
Key Performance Features
- ANSI/BHMA Grade 1 Certified: Independently tested to the highest operational and security grade the standard defines, for long service life in demanding commercial and institutional openings.
- 3-Hour Fire Rating: UL and cUL listed for use on fire-rated door assemblies, so the opening stays code compliant.
- Accessible Operation: The lever is operable without tight grasping, pinching or wrist twisting, which is what ADA 404.2.7 requires of an accessible opening.
- Field Reversible: Furnished right hand and re-handed in the field, so one lock suits either door swing without a return.
- Anti-Friction Latchbolt: A stainless steel one-piece latch that closes quietly and resists the drag that wears a latch out on a high-traffic door.
- Heavy-Duty Hubs: Heat-treated solid steel through the point that takes every turn of the lever, which is where a lighter lock fails first.
- Mechanical Warranty: Backed for the long term against defects in the mechanical lock.
