Securitron EPT Concealed Electrical Power Transfer

Concealed, Tamper Resistant, Flexible Power and Data Transfer
The EPT Electric Power Transfer provides concealed, secure power and data conduit between a frame and door, transmitting power to electrified locks, exit bars and more. Its durable stamped steel housing and flexible spring steel conduit make the EPT suitable for most types of swinging doors with butt or continuous hinges or pivot hinges up to 3/4" offset. The EPT-SC accommodates swing-clear hinges and most pivot hinges.

The EPT is used for door swing gap distances of 2-1/2” [63,5mm] or less between door edge and the door frame. The EPTL is used for longer door swing gap distances greater than 2-1/2” [63,5mm].
A simple measurement may be taken to determine the correct EPT/EPTL for the application. To measure the swing gap distance, open the door its full travel distance. Measure the distance from the centerline of the door edge to the centerline position on the door frame as shown in Figure 1. If this distance is 2.5” [63,5mm] or less an EPT may be used. If the distance is greater than 2.5” [63,5mm] an EPTL must be used. Once the correct unit is determined, use the following step by step procedure to correctly install the EPT/EPTL.

A note of caution - Securitron advises "The door stile, number of hinges and distance between hinges may vary depending upon the door manufacturers. Consult the specific door manufacturer to help decide if the EPT/EPTL will fit the application." The normal placement of the EPT is in between the top hinge and the middle hinge or between the second and third hinge for 8/0 openings. The Long version may not work for example on the 8/0 openings due to the distance between the hinges not being enough. SDI Current door/frame hinge location chart - column D tells the story of this conflict - deduct approx 6 inches from the dimension (4.5" hinge + 1.5" for tap plates) in column D.
